the problem with prometheus was that the good parts were pretty engrossing and it wasn’t a complete trainwreck so it could be funny-bad. on its own it’s an entertaining ~creation myth~ movie but as something attached to alien it’s lackluster compared to its predecessors. for one the crew was unlikable and i didn’t feel bad at all when they died. no shit you would affect things in this cave if your helmets are off and you’re breathing all over it??? even tho the crews in alien 1-3 were generally unlikable they were scrappy and got their shit together eventually and you started to root for them. in prometheus holloway was an asshole and completely unconvincing as any doctor or scientist, everybody was acting like a child and unprofessional. millburn and fifield running off was the dumbest shit, how could they get lost if fifield is a geologist?! boohooooo, you’re afraid of these dead things on this planet. if i’m doing a job i don’t pack up and leave because i don’t like what i’m doing. maybe it’s different in space in 2093, idk. assholes

i just like the first alien movie the best because it presented the experience of discovering the aliens and ripley being in charge, also there were shots in it that reminded me a whole lot of 2001: a space odyssey which is another one of my favorite movies of all time. aliens is a very good sequel as far as sequels go, but it had an irritating cast as well (tho nobody can ever out shitlord the crew from prometheus). if anything i think alien3 was a better action movie than aliens

haven’t seen any of the predator crossover ones
the core alien movies 1-3 are solid, with the first alien being perfect. resurrection is like a weird fanfiction movie some dude dreamt up (and i don’t really count it as a real alien movie), prometheus was entertaining but everybody in it was a dumb shit so it gets a low score because of how irritated i got. like for real though, you’re supposed to be scientists and you run around on this foreign planet without your helmet on???? i’d never watch it again but it opened itself up for a sequel and i’d probably watch that
