Anonymous asked: jane mai, are you making an animal crossing doujin?
WHO TOLD YOU
Anonymous asked: Jane Mai, I don't know if I'm allowed to ask you serious questions but this girl who I really love left my sorry ass a week ago because she didn't want to be in a serious relationship. I think it was because I was too affectionate (not clingy) but idk. I haven't talked to her since the break up cuz she's' never online and I want her back so much but I know that even if she was in a relationship with me she wouldn't be happy because I'm dumb. Please help me flashing face of tumblr.
uhhh i don’t think you can force a relationship on her if she really doesn’t want one sry, also if you don’t know if you were in one at all that is not a good sign save urself the trouble!!!

Anonymous asked: what kinda paper do you do your kawaii comics on

most of them are on blue or green 8.5x11” cardstock with my resume printed on the back, because i figured i might as well put them to use lol i think most of the blue/rose period comics are on blue and space boyfriend was all green
the white paper is some “bleedproof paper for pens” which is nice and smooth but i like the texture of cardstock more when working, idk

original of a-sides on 11x15” water color paper, original of 4loko cover on blue cardstock
hip hop comic pre-photoshop on 11x15” watercolor paper, in search of on some crappy 9x12” brown kraft paper
i also like plain ole computer paper for pencil drawings, i don’t believe in ~expensive materials~ all too much
Anonymous asked: jane mai, do you regret going to art school at all? i think i want to go to art school but i dont know if it's worth it. im scared.
no because if i didn’t go to art school i wouldn’t be the person i am today!
i mean it’s going to be what you make of it tho and if you make it worth it
Anonymous asked: Why aren't you working for a design firm or a magazine or something? I know nothing about the industry in your location, and it's easier said than done etc. but I love your work. Maybe you need to put yourself out there more? I can imagine great successes for jane mai.
after i graduated last year i used to email art directors all the time, even had a few interviews at ~prestigious places~ but for whatever reason i never got anywhere, and then i became severely depressed for numerous reasons etc etc and haven’t bothered doing that again. tbh editorial illustration/design really isn’t my thing, and if i could change what my focus was in college i would have gone for printmaking instead but oh well! i’m also kind of opposed to/incapable of making money ??? i don’t really care about it too much, p. much the only reason i need/want a job is because i want to be able to support my old parents and old dog. i guess buying things and eating candy is nice too. i like giving things away for free and putting shit on the internet for free, i just want to live free, make art, make out, whatevrrr. it’s not gonna fly in the ~real world~ but oh well i’ll find a way to live
